First up: the Paris Paris (a club created by the fadmasters behind le Baron, Chez Moune, le Montana…) is dead. Rising from its ashes next Monday night is the SCOPITONE. This being France, there’s no real website yet, but I can tell you that the debut concert will feature Plants and Animals. I’ve never seen the band, but my friend Alex, who splits his time between booking their shows and writing for la Blogothèque, assures me they are lovely. You can judge for yourself in this video.

Second up: I’d like to give some love to local blogger and musician Dana Boulé, who put on a no-holds-barred show Wednesday night at la Maroquinerie. That girl has got some cajones. They’ll be back on stage Sunday night when Dana plays with her experimental punk folk duo the Sobs. The venue (Espace B at 7:30) is right around the corner from my favorite Serbian grill which, like experimental punk folk, is much better than it sounds.

And finally, the Mountain Goats vid that shows John Darnielle casting an acoustic spell over a silent hall of 400 fans. Be sure to take note of the nubile young thing who’s continually reaching out for his touch – she should be an inspiration to nerdy wordsmiths everywhere.

Paris Fashion Week is upon us, along with the infamous parties. Following a full day of runway shows, you’ll find the models (and LiLo, of course) lifting their skirts at one of the clubs below. A word to the unbeautiful: you’ll have to be B-list or above to make it past the velvet rope this week.

• Le Baron (Champs-Elysées) – You’ll find a smorgasbord of sloppy celebrities inside this Golden Triangle club. Or at least you would if you had any hope of getting in. Short of blowing the doorman, however, it’s not going to happen during Fashion Week.

• Le Montana (Saint-Germain) – The painfully cool Montana is where you’ll find a bloated Freddy Beigbeder hitting on models half his age. Relatively new and absolutely of the moment, it’s owned by André (Le Baron) and a fashion photographer who likes to post the panty fest on his blog.

Full disclosure: while the parties were raging, I was enjoying a homemade bouillabaise in a friend’s apartment on the rue de l’Université , followed by Julie & Julia and an early night to bed. It was BLISS.
