WORDS: I’m the Paris Editor for Newsweek’s Budget Travel and a regular online contributor for SAVEUR. I’m also the Paris Editor for BlackBook, for whom I’ve written more than 500 reviews of restaurants, bars, hotels and shops. A good number of these appear in the BlackBook Jet Set Guide 2009: Paris, London, New York, Los Angeles (BlackBook Guide series). Beyond that, I’ve contributed articles for the BBC’s Olive magazine, the Wall Street Journal online, Gridskipper, Momondo, and the seat-pocket magazines of United, Virgin Trains, and Gulf Air. I’ve been featured in stories about Paris by CNN, Peter Greenberg’s Radio Show, Euranet Radio’s Europe Unzipped and Germany’s Stern and GEO Saison. A selection of favorite articles are listed below.
- Hemispheres Magazine, “Getting Fresh” (March 2009)
- Budget Travel, “Eating on the Wild Side” (November 2008)
- Wall Street Journal, “In Paris, Mastering the Art of Le Fooding” (May 2008)
- Momondo, “Deliciously Duped at Volpetti” (December 2008)
- Gridskipper, “The Stunning Brasseries of Paris” (republished February 2009)
PHOTOS: Unlike Jens Boldt, who made the heavily forested portrait above, I’m a total amateur. But I still take a gazillion photos, most of which are spread between Paris Daily Porn, my Flickr site, and the pages of the New York Times T Magazine, the Wall Street Journal, Libération, L’Internaute, Brazil’s LeLisBlanc and other friendly poachers.
ETC: I occassionally guide groups when they’re visiting Paris – most recently the crew of Paper Heart (a film starring Michael Cera and Charlyne Yi).
