Patrimoin-me
Quick buzz: For culture hounds not heading to the annual Techno Parade, this weekend is the Journées du Patrimoine or “Heritage Days” festival. That means two things:
Lots of doors that are usually closed will be open. The annual festival gives unusual access to:
- The Palais de L’Elysée (chez President Nico)
- Hôtel de Matignon (gorgeous old mansion/current residence of Prime Minister)
- Assemblée Nationale (National Assembly)
- Sénat – Palais du Luxembourg (French Senate)
- Bibliothèque Nationale de France (normally open only to scholars who have completed an application/interview)
- and many more…
Lots of doors that are usually open will be cheaper, with half-price or no-price entry to:
- Centre Pompidou: free visit Saturday and Sunday from 11am to 9pm
- Cluny Museum: free visit Saturday and Sunday from 9:15am to 5:45 pm
- and many more…
As for me, I’ll be heading to Versailles with my parents to see Marie Antionette’s cottage and the Trianon palace… for free!
